a house tour

Gamma Alpha co-op house is a beautiful (and old) Georgian Revival style home built in 1919.

One of the most recent house renovations, the new front steps, completed in 2023!

Gamma Alpha in April 1975, sent to us by UMICH alumni and GA member Pala Vishwanath. Thank you Pala!

“It was a very vibrant place and I remember few mates like Andy, Susan, Drew, two girls from Turkey etc. There was also an eccentric biology student who kept snakes and who would come down in the night with just his brief and a boa constrictor around his shoulders. We all pooled and got the downstairs totally carpeted. I got my PhD in particle physics , worked in US for few more years and then went back to India… I am 81 now. It is nice to remember all this.”

Transitioning into winter.

The living room, complete with a piano. This space has been known to become a roller skating rink during parties.

The adjacent dining/study room. This table has hosted many potlucks.

See! potlucks!

Everyone’s favorite room in the summer and least favorite room in the winter: the sunroom.

Vietnamese and Thai food cookout, late summer 2023.

Current residents swapped cornhole for an open fire pit and grill set-up.

The kitchen is a kitchen.

Bike storage in the garage.

This is actually a small portion of the garden, which produces tons of food in the summer!

Zucchini, kale, basil and chives, all harvested from the Gamma Alpha garden!
